Education and Training

SangNam Ahn, Phd, MSPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Services and Systems Management at the University of Memphis School of Public Health. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Social and Behavioral Health, School of Public Health at the Texas A&M University HSC. Dr. Ahn spent his doctoral program and post-doctoral fellowship applying sophisticated methodologies to public health issues, with particular attention to obesity research. He worked as a program evaluator for the Texas Healthy Lifestyle project and is a certified lay leader for Chronic Diseases Self-Management Program (CDSMP) and Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP), which are evidence-based public health interventions addressing the roles of nutrition and physical activity in managing chronic conditions. He previously worked as a data analyst and statistical consultant for local, state, and federal projects. Among his most recent work includes planning and analyzing the Brazos Valley Regional Health Status Assessment II, developing prevalence measures of elder abuse in residential long-term care facilities, and streamlining fidelity indicators for evidence-based chronic diseases self-management programs.
