The Stress-Busting Program for Family Caregivers is an Evidence-based Program that provides support to family caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s/dementia (SBP-D) or persons with cancer, chronic disease, illness or a disability (SBP-G) . It is proven to:

  • Improve the quality of life of family caregivers who provide care
  • Help caregivers manage their stress and cope better with their lives

This program is focused on education, support, problem-solving, and stress management. It takes a holistic approach to addressing the emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive needs of the caregivers.

Target Population

Stress Busting Program for Family Caregivers (SBP-D)
  • Caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia
Stress Busting Program for Family Caregivers General (SBP-G)
  • Caregivers of persons with cancer, chronic disease, illness or disability

Program Length

  • 9 week program
  • 90-minutes sessions

Cost Estimates

  • License Fee (3 years) ($500-$1,000)*
  • Master Training ($1,500/trainer)*
  • Participant supplies ($35 + S&H)
  • One-Time Training Supplies ($50)
*License and Master Trainers are covered by Texas A&M EBP in the nine county RHP17 region

Program Components

Multi-component intervention including:

  • Stress management techniques (breathing, guided imagery, meditation, art, music, journaling)
  • Problem-solving
  • Coping strategies

Informative sessions on dementia and behaviors of dementia patients that are challenging

Program Outcomes
